Rancho FirstNations, Flooded As A Motherfucker

Circle marks the Rancho.  Lookit our house!  French Provincial!

Well, here it is.   If you want to see the whole video and you are not from America, try Google United States and searching it on there.  Here's the link to that video:

It's on the Whatcom County Fire District home site here:  https://www.facebook.com/wcfd14/

Scroll down and you'll see the link, with a picture, for the flooding today.  Tap on that and watch the kayakers cruising through town.  It's whimsical.

  1. I spotted the kayakers! Maybe get one of them to take photos of your house for the insurance company? Jx

  2. Well thank heavens your all right! Maybe you should consider a houseboat after this and live like Sophia Loren like from the movie of the same name lambchop?

  3. Holy Shit! I don't even know where to start except to say I'm so very grateful you've all survived the flood, have homeowners insurance, and some kind of an exit plan to move forward. We once experienced a "here today, gone tomorrow" situation when the neighbor's 14 year old kid (who was deeply troubled over his parents divorce) broke into our home while we were away attending a wedding 500 miles away. Poured gasoline inside, lit a match, and ran like hell - the little fucker. Total loss. Not the same to be sure, but still an incredibly surreal experience such as you're dealing with now. You have my positive thoughts and sympathy as you move forward dearheart. X

  5. I can only imagine what a big shock this is to you now! I realize you are focused on the day to day tasks at hand. I really wish I could be there for you in some way. So close and yet so far! Please email me natureledlife@gmail so I can give you my phone number. You can text or call me when it all gets to be too much and you need someone to talk too.

I'm exploring the idea of moving to BC because I'm so done with American politics! I feel like I would much rather sit in disgust from a slightly farther distance. A friend had joked I should build a climate change resilient commune. Maybe not such a crazy idea after all. Wanna join my commune? You can be head Groundskeepers. I'll give you young men to boss around. I hope you can laugh through the tears. Many big bear hugs too you, dear!

  6. Stay away from BC. It's flooded too. An entire city just had to evacuate.

  7. Jon: hopefully they got swept away during the midday tidal back-surge that blocked up floodwater drainage into Puget Sound for the rest of the afternoon. Right now I'm pissed off at anyone who's getting any enjoyment out of this shit! GRR!

  9. Camille: That's nuts. I'm so sorry that happened to you. Random reversals of fortune that are out of your control...I dunno. X back atcha.

  10. 63Mago: It is indeed. There was snow up where we stayed last night, and that's just the beginning. There won't be any cleaning up or drying out of our house or our furniture because winter is just beginning, and this certainly isn't the last time it will rain here. I AM NOT BUMMED. Everything important is above water level, and we'll be able to get it out when they let us back into town.

  11. ProximaBlue: Thanks for the support! I would be happy to join your commune as long as you build somewhere with good drainage that's protected from the Northeast winter storms and is nowhere near the Fraser or Sumas rivers!

  12. The Mistress: We heard the same thing from a couple of Canadians yesterday who were trapped on this side because the borders were all flooded out. They too were trapped on Mt. Baker overnight, but luckily in their vacation home and not a shelter. It's a shitshow from Victoria Island north...White Rock, Blaine, inland on both sides of the line all the way up through Abbotsford/Huntingdon to Yarrow, Coquiltlam, Cultus and Osoyoos, that whole glacial flatland that Sumas, Nooksack and Everson share with Canada. It's just a huge lake. Miss you, chickie.
